The County Administrator reports directly to the Boone County Board. Positions that report to the County Administrator include the Deputy County Administrator, Administrative Assistant, Transit Grants Administrator/Program Compliance and Oversight Monitor (PCOM), County Planner, Senior Building Inspector, Supervisor of Assessments, Animal Services Operations Supervisor, GIS Specialist and County Engineer. The County has a 2020 budget of $33.7 million and employs 259 personnel. Approximately half of County employees are represented by labor unions.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master's degree preferred) in public or business administration or a related field and considerable experience supporting the work of a governing board and providing oversight and coordination of local government functions. Qualified candidates will have a strong working knowledge of government administration in such areas as budgeting, grants management, long-range financial planning, risk management, human resources, labor relations, collective bargaining, and contract management. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required.

The anticipated salary in the range of $115,000 - $140,000 commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience. The County participates in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension programs, and offers health insurance, an employee wellness program, term life insurance, twelve holidays and paid vacation, sick and personal days.

The Boone County Health Department (BCHD), in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), is hiring one full-time Contact Tracing Supervisor/COVID-19 Data Coordinator, one Contact Tracer (lead)/Resource Coordinator, and two Contact Tracers to spearhead COVID-19 contact tracing. BCHD is further developing their team of community contact tracing staff across Boone County, Illinois as a key strategy for preventing further spread of COVID-19. BCHD is looking for a dynamic, energetic individuals who are prepared to work in a fast-paced emergency response enviroment with a team of contact tracers through the challenges of local outbreak response. Boone County is seeking a highly motivated and professional individual to fill the position of Supervisor of Assessments.

The successful applicant will have the ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with County staff, elected officials, and the general public. The Supervisor of Assessments plans, supervises, and coordinates the Assessment Department and Board of Review, including developing and maintaining annual budgets. Communicates and coordinates with other taxing districts in the collection of property taxes. Administers annual training, develops and distributes assessment forms, and interprets application State Statutes, regulations, and ordinances. Maintains and edits the County assessment roll and publishes changes. The position is appointed by the Boone County Board and reports to the County Administrator.

A Certified Illinois Assessing Official (CIAO) Certificate; or a Certified Assessment Evaluator Certificate; or a Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI), Residential Member (RM), Senior Real Estate Analyst (SREA), Senior Real Property Analyst (SRPA) or Senior Residential Analyst (SRA) certification from the Appraisal Institute or its predecessor organizations.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, public administration, or a closely related field preferred; minimum two years of experience in the field of property sales, assessments, finance or appraisals and must have passed an examination conducted by the Department of Revenue to determine his or her competence to hold the office.
This position requires certification as Illinois Assessing Officer and/or other qualifications as prescribed by 35 ILCS 200/3-5.

Anticipated hiring salary of $70,000 to $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Boone County offers an excellent benefits package.
