Patrol
The Patrol Division provides police services to the citizens Boone County 24 hours a day, year round. The Patrol Division responds to service calls and traffic accidents that are reported to the Sheriff's Office. The Patrol Division may also assist surrounding jurisdictions when requested.
The Patrol Division includes specialized units. These units include K-9, traffic enforcement officers, and accident reconstruction. The Patrol Division also participates in grant funded traffic details, such as seat-belt and DUI enforcement.
Four primary patrol shifts provide uninterrupted 24/7 coverage. Each shift consists of up to eight deputies and one Sergeant. Boone County is divided into two zones for which calls are distributed by the communications center. Depending on the severity and urgency of the call, deputies respond and take the appropriate enforcement action.
