Belvidere Downtown Transit Plan

Overview

In 2005 the City Council approved a contract with Vandewalle and Associates to take a detailed look at the downtown and determine what development was likely in the event a transit center was established.  The goal of this planning process was to identify how best to redevelop the area to take full advantage of the potential opportunities offered by transit station development without harming the established businesses and environment currently existing downtown.

Maps

Through the planning process two maps were created in order to show a five year and 10 year snapshot of what the development could look like with the addition of a transit station downtown.  Both maps are available for viewing here.

Recommendations

Rather that creating a large planning document with pages and pages of text, it was determined that a better approach would be the creation of a story book.  The goal of the story book was to quickly and easily communicate the vision of the plan.  A copy of the plan is available for viewing here.
