Highway Department

Highways in the rural area of Boone County are under the jurisdiction of several agencies. The townships have approximately 60 percent of rural mileage, county has approximately 18 percent of rural mileage, state as around 14 percent, the Toll Highway Authority has approximately 2 percent, and the remaining rural mileage is private.

The County maintains approximately 196 lane miles of road and fourteen bridges with a crew of five employees, a County Engineer and an administrative assistant.
