Effective January 29, 2010 the State of Illinois passed a law requiring all new construction to meet the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code. The following information is required in order to determine compliance:

  1. Wall detail showing insulation materials with R-Values.
  2. Ceiling/Attic insulation values.
  3. Foundation detail showing the method used to insulate with appropriate R-Values.
  4. U-Factor of windows, exterior doors and any skylights.
  5. IC rated can lights with gasketing.
  6. Attic access insulated and gasketed.
  7. Programmable thermostat.
  8. All seams and joints in mechanical duct work will be sealed.
  9. State R-Value of ductwork outside of building thermal envelope (attic).
  10. At least 50% of light fixtures will be high efficacy.
  11. Hot water piping will be insulated (state R-Value).
  12. Provide heat loss calculations and info on size and efficiency of all mechanical units.
