Catherine "Cathy" Ward was elected Chairwoman of the Boone County Board on Dec. 4, 2006 for a two-year term.

Ward said it is her goal to encourage more public participation at board meetings and give all Boone County residents the chance to serve on county boards and committees. "We've had several excellent candidates apply for our open positions, and I know that collectively we can make good decisions for our county." Ward said she considers it "a great honor to serve as chairwoman of Boone County, one of the fastest growing counties in the state."

Ward has been a resident of Boone County for 40 years, coming from East Troy, Wisconsin, and graduating from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater.

Direct involvement with the city of Belvidere, local villages, local townships, all elected and appointed officials, and neighboring and regional cities and counties.
Active involvement with local charities, the Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce and Growth Dimension. Some include: Boone County Council on Aging, Ida Public Library, Zonta Club of Belvidere, Belvidere Sister Cities, Midway Village and Museum Center, Women's Garden Club, the Boone County Republican Club, the annual St. Patrick's Dinner Dance, Boone/Belvidere Community Building and St. James Church and Choir.
